Zhang Xiaogang — whose acclaimed Bloodline portraits distilled
the sobering heritage of China's Cultural Revolution — plumbs his
childhood memories of the same grueling period for Revision. The artist's first solo show with New York's PaceWildenstein presents seven interior scenes from the 2008 Green Walls
series, a reference to the paint used by the Communist government for
private and municipal buildings throughout China during the '60s and
'70s.
