A unique traditional feature of the Abruzzi coastline asre the travocchi, - the traditional fishing huts built on piles into the azure waters of the Adriatic.
These wooden huts with their long fishing poles and nets are located along the coast between S. Vito and Fossacesia. They are generally still used by local fishermen although gentrification is taking place and some are being converted into chic restaurants.
